Our method

What the OTI score actually measures

Every platform gets the same five checks, weighted the same way, using only information anyone can verify from its own site. No platform can pay to move up.

Client rating

38%

Public client ratings, weighted so a handful of reviews can't spike the score.

Review volume

14%

How much public feedback exists to judge the platform on.

Therapist experience

16%

Average years of practice across the platform's therapists.

Transparency & policies

18%

Published pricing, therapist switching, confidentiality contract, self-serve booking.

Range of care

14%

Services, specializations and languages covered.

Each measure is marked out of 100 and the five results are combined using the weights above, then put on a 0–5 scale where averaging 80 out of 100 earns a full 5, because no service in this market tops out on all five measures at once. Read the full methodology.

FAQ

Choosing an online therapy platform

Short, direct answers to what people ask us most. Still stuck? Ask us directly.

How much does online therapy cost in India?
Across the 41 platforms we track, published rates run from ₹449 to ₹2,800 per session, averaging ₹1,450. Most mainstream platforms sit between ₹1,000 and ₹2,500 for a 50–60 minute session. Sliding-scale and student rates exist but are usually arranged directly with the platform rather than advertised.
Which online therapy platform is the best in India?
On our scoring, Siraya ranks first at 4.8/5. But "best" depends on what you need, the cheapest strong option is Siraya at ₹1,050 a session, and our shortlist breaks the winners down by budget, language and experience.
Is online therapy as effective as meeting in person?
For common concerns like anxiety, depression, stress and relationship difficulties, research consistently finds video therapy works about as well as in-person sessions. In-person care is usually the better call for severe or acute conditions, anything requiring close psychiatric supervision, and situations where you don't have a private, reliable space to talk from.
Do these platforms prescribe medication?
Only the ones with psychiatrists on staff, 11 of the 41 platforms we track offer psychiatry. Therapists and counsellors cannot prescribe. If you think medication may be part of your treatment, filter for psychiatry from the start rather than switching platforms later.
How do you make money if platforms don't pay you?
We don't take payment, commission or affiliate fees from any platform listed here, and no one can buy a higher position. That's the whole point of the ranking. Where a platform disputes a detail we've published, we check it against their public pages and correct it.
Are these therapists qualified?
Qualification standards vary a lot, which is why we record the minimum qualification each platform advertises, from diploma or certification through to M.Phil in Clinical Psychology (the RCI-recognised route). Every platform page lists what they claim as a minimum. Verify credentials directly before your first paid session.
